Making LinkedIn Work For You

WAW ep 133 Making LinkedIn Work For you

“If you’re one of the few brave people creating content, you’re going to benefit from it.”

There are a lot of professionals that feel like LinkedIn is an awkward networking event they’re forced to attend. They sign up then stand along the wall, nodding politely, and hoping no one notices them. Meanwhile they are quietly watching people build a large network while wondering why it’s not happening for them.

I’ve noticed that people either love the platform, avoid it entirely, or convince themselves it’s not “for people like them.” However, LinkedIn is one of the greatest, under-utilized tools for visibility, connection, and career momentum for professionals. Most people don’t realize how much it depends on thoughtful, human-driven content.

We often trick ourselves into believing there is too much competition to get noticed. But compared to other platforms, LinkedIn isn’t oversaturated. It is actually full of observers waiting for someone to speak first. Professionals lurk in silence because they fear being judged, misunderstood, or criticized. Yet the people who are willing to contribute consistently will stand out faster than they expect, simply because there is space to fill.

The impact comes from being genuine, not perfect. Your perspective, insight, and lived experiences are valuable contributions. In fact, the posts that resonate most are often the simplest. A personal moment, lesson, or a connection tend to get more interest than buzzwords. The key is consistency and authenticity. Thos build trust faster than trendy messaging ever will.

If fear has been the barrier, remember tht courageous authenticity is a leadership skill. Your presence online can help others. You don’t need to go viral. You just need to show up. That one step can open opportunities you don’t even know exist yet.
